NOWA DĘBA 2003
The second evangelism
took place in Nowa Dęba. It is a town of 15,000 people where there is no
evangelical church yet. The believers who live there had been praying for
many months for evangelism to take place there. We managed to distribute
about 5,000 invitations, mostly by post and through individual contacts.
Every day the evangelistic concerts were attended by more than 100 people.
The people were very open to the preaching. The concert for children was
attended by over 200 people. The hall was completely full. Most of all we
remember groups of young people we talked to and prayed for after the
meetings. Young people came forward for prayer asking for salvation,
forgiveness of sins as well as deliverance from the addiction to alcohol and
nicotine. In Nowa Dęba there used to be a factory that employed about 5,000
people. Today about 500 workers are still there. This is one of the reasons
why unemployment is such a big problem. Young people often take drugs to try
to escape from the reality. Drug addiction is a serious problem there. In
Lublin we met drug addicts from Nowa Dęba who are staying at the
detoxication ward. Please pray for that town so that there could be an
evangelical church there as a tool in God's hand. We want the new-born
Christians to come to the weekly meetings of the ALPHA course that started
right after the evangelism so that the seed of the Gospel that was sown
there could bring a centuple harvest the
spiritual transformation of the community of Nowa Dęba.
