CAMPAIGN
ŁUKÓW 2003
From 17 to 27 April we had a big evangelistic campaign in Łuków. It is a town of over 30,000 people between Lublin and Siedlce where there is no evangelical church yet. Some evangelistic work had been done there, but all the believers left that town. Therefore, as we came to Łuków, we did not know any evangelically believing Christians. It was a completely pioneering situation for us. At first we could not find any hall for evangelism or accommodation. Thanks to the prayers of many friends who support our mission we were able to find the accommodation and a hall in a cultural center in the very center of the town. Most of the missionaries from Euromission came from Norway in three coaches. As for Polish people, apart from us there were also brothers and sisters from Lublin, Międzyrzec and other places who came to the evangelistic meetings and helped us. All the amplifying equipment, musical instruments and the lights were brought from Norway. We had a short evangelistic programme in 2 schools in Łuków, where we could speak to over 1,000 children and teenagers. Each night the evangelistic concerts were attended by 60-100 people. The Gospel was preached through dramas, testimonies, songs and various multimedia. The message of the Gospel was preached by missionary evangelists from Euromission. The speakers were Tormod Bakkevold, Ronald Gabrielsen and Michał Siczek. The Word was preached with power and the Holy Spirit worked powerfully so that many people made a decision to follow Christ. Altogether over 120 people prayed to receive Jesus Christ into their hearts. Over 2,000 people could hear the Gospel during the evangelism in Łuków. We distributed more than 350 copies of the New Testament at the evangelistic meetings. We believe deeply that the seed of the Gospel that was sown there will bring a lot of good fruit. Please pray for Łuków and its inhabitants so that an evangelical church could be founded there as soon as possible and so that it could be a testimony for the town and the region. Despite the opposition and various obstacles God gave us victory and we could see the unbelievable. One night we had a former inhabitant of Łuków who had been praying and preaching the Gospel in that town for many years. As he was sitting next to me at the evangelism, he asked me a question: "Did you expect that so many people would come to listen to the Gospel?" He did not believe his own eyes, seeing the hall with about 100 people, which made it almost completely full. There had been some evangelistic meetings there before, but it was hard to collect more than 15 people from the town. Remembering the hard beginnings, we were full of gratitude to God. He is good! Let us pray for a spiritual revival in that
town.
All the massmedia - the radio, the television as well as the regional and local newspapers were informed about the arrival of Euromission. The news appeared in the regional Catholic radio station and a regional weekly newspaper. Right after that evangelism we are planning the next one in May, and then we would like to start the Alpha course for all those who are
interested.
