CAMPAIGN
DANIA 2006
Denmark is a country
situated on 406 islands and covers the area of 43 thousand square kilometers.
The country has the population of about 5.3 million. Denmark is a beautiful
country with lovely towns and wonderful views. However there are some
contrasts that can be noticed at once. On the one hand, the Danish people
are very nice and polite, they warmly greet foreigners on the street, but on
the other hand there are problems which they have to cope with. Alcohol and
drugs taken by young people, informal relationships between people, children
brought up in such houses, religious indifference. In Danish mentality the
so called Jante law is strongly rooted which says: “No one is special. Don’t
try to be different, and don’t pretend that you are better than somebody
else. Don’t tell anybody how they should live.” This country really needs
spiritual revival and God’s grace and mercy.
That is why we, as euromission, from the 1st to the 11th of October 2006
went with eleven people to evangelize in Denmark. We stayed at Kasia and
Ronald’s Gabrielsen who opened their house to us. Kasia and Ronald are
workers in euromission International, missionaries planting a Church in
Nakskov. They are doing wonderful work there and are a good example of
people of faith who do not give in to bad circumstances but follow God’s
call. Thanks to their hospitality not only could we practically prepare to
the concerts but also meet together to pray and meditate on God’s Word. The
fellowship with the Lord was a great encouragement to us and thanks to Him
we had strength to the end of evangelism. The time of evangelism was, for
many of us, a hard work and some kind of a debut. For most of us it was the
first mission trip abroad. For some of us it was also the first time ever to
sing or give a testimony in English or to perform in dramas and choreography.
We thank God that He helped us to break our inhibition and we could do
everything for His glory. In all, we managed to have eight evangelisms in
Nakskov and Sakskobing. These towns are situated on the Lolland Island. In
both towns we reached many houses with the invitations for the concerts. We
also had short street programs on which we shared the message about God in
the form of songs, dramas, Choreography, testimonies and the Word. Many
people stopped and watched our program; we also met some Polish people and
we could talk to them. The local newspaper wrote about our concerts too.
Unfortunately, not many people came to the evening concerts in the youth
club. In Nakskov the law forbids to rent public halls for religious practice.
That is why there were problems obtaining the room in the youth club. But we
prayed and God helped us to have concerts there. We are grateful to God that
He removed every obstacle for the gospel to be preached in this country.
After we left Denmark, a group from Norway came to Nakskov also to
evangelize. So we believe that God’s Word will not come back empty but will
do the work in the hearts of people who heard It. On Sunday euromission
group had the opportunity to minister in the Church that meets at Kasia and
Ronald’s. we had worship together, we shared testimonies from our missionary
work, later Michał shared the Word of God. For all of us it was a blessed
time. We hope to come to Denmark again.
